Colonel Mary Carstensen U.S. Army (Retired) is a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army, a former senior executive and advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA), and thoughtful investor for the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Charitable Investment program. She has spent three decades building organizations and systems to solve complex problems within and across the public and private sectors. Her vision, leadership, and proficiency at building coalitions, combined with strategic and operational management, and as a social entrepreneur, herself, have provided her a unique perspective on how collaboration can achieve the greatest impact. Today, she spearheads the National Veterans Intermediary – focused on organizing stakeholders across the country to ease Veteran access to services and decrease variability in outcomes.
